About this piece
"Calendrier 2000"
Papyrus. Papier. Paper. It can be as flimsy as onion skin, or as rich as parchment. It can be
embossed, baked, molded, folded, spindled and even mutilated, but it remains a constant of every
printed job. The science of paper-making is centuries long. The refinements to that science now
border art. Seldom have we seen one single entry offer such a subtle yet swelling symphony
celebrating an entire swatch book of paper substrates. The Calendrier 2000 from Transcontinental
Litho Acme in Montreal is a magnum opus, reminding us once again that paper is a gift from living
organisms, and in the hands of Craftsmen, paper breathes anew. Classy creativity emanates from
every leave of this marvelous Calendar. We are truly delighted that long time major International
Gallery participant Transcontinental Litho Acme has won the Finch Paper Best Use of Paper Award.
