About this piece
"Buca Annual Report"
In
2001 the annual report for a restaurant chain was honored with a Best of
the Best award. In 2002, its
happened again – with an entry that possesses that same tongue in cheek
earnestness that slices through the hype and dices through the hubris.
Again
this year the Best Use of Paper winner uses an
incongruous variety of substrates to illustrate the homey and even
rabid affection fans of the Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant chain have
for the raucous family style restaurant where everyone is a made man, the
kitsch comes clanging from the kitchen and the server will dish it out to
anyone loopy enough to lip off before being buried in an avalanche of
famiglia cooking.
Perhaps
the menu at Buca was the inspiration for a perplexing potpourri of papers
of every size and flavour. And
perhaps the point is the sum total of the experience – over the top to
be sure, but deeply, deeply satisfying to the soul.
Our
congratulations to General Litho Services of Minneapolis, a first time
Best of the Best Award winner and this years recipient of the Finch Paper
Best Use of Paper Award.
