IAPHC Craft, Art, Science Award

Winners Book 2003 (PDF)

The 29th International Gallery of Superb Printing presented more than 3,100 entries from around the globe to its International jurors in late June, 2003 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.  The competition is devoted to the principles of honoring excellence in the graphic arts by Celebrating Craft, Applauding Art and Showcasing Science.  Throughout its development as a prestigious graphic arts competition, the International Gallery has been proudly produced by the IAPHC, a trade association with thousands of individual members around the world.

Here are some salient facts about the event:

1) Ever more International:

In 2003 entries originating in Australia, Britain, China, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand and Singapore joined hundreds of other entrants from around North America in competing for honors including 23 sponsored awards known as the Best of the Best, which are named awards bearing the support of a world class roster of Internationally known graphic arts supplier firms.

2) By the Numbers:

2003 marked the fifth straight year more than 3,000 entries were judged.  Nearly 4 dozen judges from the US and Canada trained expert eyes on the entries which are scrutinized in minute detail and must pass three grueling rounds of judging to be eligible for the Best of the Best named awards.

3) Why do so many Global Firms enter?

An International Gallery award winning graphic arts firm can achieve  three notable goals.

First, it is able to say to its existing and future clientele -- "Our work has won acclaim upon a global stage.  Quality still matters and we have the credentials to prove it.  We will produce your project skillfully and artfully, on time and on budget."

Second, an award winning firm can expose its unique skill sets and product portfolio to the Executive staff of the IAPHC who utilize a database driven program called the Knowledge Network to deliver new business opportunities to past entrants based upon the type and caliber of those past entries. In other words, if a print broker in Portland, Oregon is seeking a webprinter in Canada or Mexico, it will be a past entrant in the International Gallery who will get the call.

Third, the savvy graphic arts firm knows that finding and retaining skilled and digitally empowered employees remains the most formidable challenge.  Honoring employees who have played a part in achieving global renown in the International Gallery becomes a most effective way to motivate and incentivate employees who understand that the triumvirate of Craft, Art and Science remain vital and exciting in the digital day and age.
