EFI Fiery Server Drives New Xerox High-End Production Color Digital Press

Most Advanced Fiery Server Now Available for DocuColor 7000

Philadelphia – On Demand – May 17, 2005 – EFI (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced the availability of the Fiery® EXP8000, one of the industry’s most powerful color servers, for Xerox Corporation’s (NYSE:XRX) DocuColor® 7000 Digital Press. The new press, coupled with the EXP8000, is designed for mission-critical, high-end production printing environments.

Fiery servers enable the range of high-value production environment applications offered by Xerox presses built for commercial print, print for pay, franchise printers, service bureau, data center, and in-plant/CRD operations. Those applications include print-on-demand, web-to-print, book publishing and personalized marketing. The Fiery EXP8000 for the 70-page-per-minute DocuColor 7000 Digital Press joins the family of Fiery servers specifically designed for Xerox digital color presses, including servers for the Xerox iGen3™ Digital Production Press, the 80-ppm DocuColor 8000 Digital Press, and the 60-ppm DocuColor 6060 Digital Color Press.

The EXP8000, originally announced with the Xerox DocuColor 8000 Digital Press, is based on Fiery technology for high-end production solutions. This server elevates the standard in speed and precision and includes unique features that give customers a sustained competitive advantage in a dynamic market. All are well-integrated within a single technologically advanced yet user-friendly interface, the multiple award-winning Command WorkStation®, to ensure a streamlined, linear workflow with minimal keystrokes.

High-Speed Performance
EXP8000 is designed to drive Xerox high end digital copier/printers at speeds as high as 100 pages per minute in demanding color production environments. The Fiery server can process two jobs at once, RIPping a new file while simultaneously printing another file.

EFI Impose Fiery Edition is a WYSIWYG server-based imposition application that enables entire documents to be edited and assembled quickly, before RIPping the files. Providing the unique ability to create an unlimited number of new custom imposition templates, this feature is independent of platform, application, and file format, and supports a wide variety of source documents.

A range of the most advanced production tools, such as scheduled printing, rush printing and job re-ordering optimize the Fiery server’s power, eliminating labor intensive activities and providing full operator control of the workflow.

Color Quality and Control
The EFI in-RIP color management system, Fiery ColorWise®, provides color quality ‘out of the box’ - color control and extensibility that seamlessly integrates with the Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition.

Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition, empowers users with the most advanced tools for color proofing and control. Premium power tools include:

• EFI Image Viewer, which offers real-time zoom to the dot and pixel levels and a fast, accurate softproofing interface;

• Filters and file converters for the EFI Hot Folders to streamline job submission and integrate the Fiery into existing graphic arts workflows;

• Advanced trapping settings; and control bars and post-flight reports for advanced trouble shooting and controlling output; and

• The optional EFI Color Profiler to successfully match color profiles across all color printers.

Additionally, the EXP8000 includes EFI’s industry-leading Variable Data Printing (VDP) solutions, the industry’s most open, flexible, and scaleable, providing the widest range of VDP languages and industry standard PPML. Users have the freedom to select the VDP language and application they prefer.

Availability
The EXP8000 for the DocuColor 7000, and Fiery servers for the iGen3™ Digital Production Press and the DocuColor 8000 and DocuColor 6060 Digital Color Presses are currently available through the Xerox direct sales force, authorized sales agents, and via TeleWeb operations.
