Your Craftsmen Network at Work
Walt Gutowski Jr. of Swift Printing and the Grand Rapids Club had an opportunity to bid on a printed project for a friend. The problem was that the job, apparently a thermographed item, was very hard to identify --might be thermographed, might be some type of new exotic decal.....Walt sent the item to Kevin Keane at IAPHC Headquarters, who in turn sent it along to Tom Gretzinger, a member who works for Business Cards Tomorrow in Boca Raton Florida to get his expert opinion on "What is it?"
Sue Jordan of The Printed Image and president of the Albuquerque Club called IAPHC Headquarters in search of someone who could put her in touch with a source for the plastic bases for a tear off daily calendar, similar to the Far Side calendars. Kevin Keane gave Sue the e-mail address for George Lord of At-A-Glance and the Southern Tier Club. At-A-Glance produces a wide array of desk calendars, planners, etc.
Dennis Gongwer of Dispatch Color Press and the Columbus Club e-mailed Kevin Keane at IAPHC Headquarters looking for a source for printed special occasion wrapping paper. Kevin knew that an entry in the 1997 International Gallery of Superb Printing from the San Francisco Club was a wrapping paper entry. Headquarters contacted San Francisco Club Gallery Chair Cindy Handlin at Unisource and she kindly provided the contact name which was forwarded to Dennis: San Francisco Club member Skip Gorman of Paragraphics.
Tom Conley, a member who works at Diamond Graphics in Minneapolis called Kevin Keane at IAPHC Heaquarters in search of a little legal assistance. Tom's firm produces printed plastic cards and the firm needed to broker a job to another printer. Tom needed a simple non-compete and confidentiality agreement for the printer to sign which Kevin provided via fax.
If you have a problem finding a solution or have an example of how the Craftsmen Network has recently benefited you, we'd like to hear about it. Just send an e-mail to International Headquarters.
