Your Craftsmen Network at work
Dan Bates of Advertoprint, and the Milwaukee-Racine Club, called Headquarters and asked who he could contact about what kind of wood was used in the manufacture of a chase on an anique type proof press. Headquarters provided phone numbers for Mark Barbour, curator of the International Printing Museum and member of the Santa Monica Bay Club; and Paul Aken, member of the North Shore Club, and curator of his own printing history collection; and Frank Granger, of Central Piedmont Community College and widely published author on Printing's past.
Ken Allan of Oregon Printing and the Toledo Club asked Headquarters for assistance in finding someone who could repair a Chief press. Headquarters tracked down several possible leads by talking to Jack Failor of the Sacremento Club.
Eric Stewart of Kimoto Technologies Inc., and the Vancouver Club, called Headquarters and asked if there was a way to get confirmation on the recent sale of AB Dick Corporation by its parent company GE Capital of Britain. Headquarters immediately faxed him the most recent Know More Notes (Vol 3, No. 5, Feb. 1997) which covered the sale story, as well as an earlier news blurb about the impending sale from October, 1996.
