Your Craftsmen Network at Work
George Lord of At-a-Glance and the Southern Tier Club needed a referral for someone his estimators could talk with regarding lenticular printing. Mark Mulvaney of Letterhead Press had entered the International Gallery earlier this year and in the process of classifying his entry mentioned that he had done lenticular projects with Quad Graphics in the Milwaukee area. At the Seattle Club Gallery banquet on April 19th, Tenth District Governor and CraftNet Committee Co-Chair Norm Belanger told Kevin Keane that Norm recalled an inquiry about lenticular printing which had been e-mailed to the CraftNet Webmaster earlier this year from a gentleman in London, England. Norm had just been approached by one of his clients in Calgary to produce a lenticular project. Norm and George were also put in touch with Mr. Mulvaney.
International CraftNet Webmaster Dan Millsip received a call from a customer of Fraser Valley Club member Ian Macdonald who was looking for a printer capable of 70" wide sublimation printing. Dan e-mailed Kevin Keane requesting assistance. Kevin knew as a result of past entries in the International Gallery, that Rochester NY area printers had sublimation expertise. In conversation with Len Petitti of the Rochester Club, Len suggested Specialized Printed Forms, where the president Julie Casey Randall is a member of the Rochester Club.
Sue Jordan of The Printed Image and the Albuquerque Club e-mailed Kevin Keane at 5:30 CDT on a Friday afternoon asking for assistance with a special type of Wire-O binding. Sue said she needed an answer FAST, for a valued client. Kevin e-mailed a request for assistance to three Craftsmen members who are in the bindery business and have e-mail addresses. By 5:49AM EDT on the following Monday, Sue had received a detailed response kindly provided by Bill Maguire of The Bindery of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Club.
If you have a problem finding a solution or have an example of how the Craftsmen Network has recently benefited you, we'd like to hear about it. Just send an e-mail to International Headquarters.
