By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO Y'KNOW at work We continue to remark on the amazing ways in which one member reaches out to help another, often across thousands of miles. John Kohnke of San Francisco provide Irene Haws-Neuer of Topeka an extremely detailed and insightful response to her recent request for help. Jeff Alt of Jacksonville needed rapid assistance in South East Michigan. Dave Holman, new Detroit Club president was there with an instant offer of help. Afterwards, Dave wrote to Jeff: "The company I work for, Great Lakes Color Printers, was pleased to assist you and one of your local clients. Isn't it nice to be able to call up Kevin Keane at our international headquarters and have help at your fingertips? Consider our help to the Bindery of Jacksonville a small favor." Pat Strelitzer of the Central Wisconsin Club sent an e-mail on 13 August commenting on how the Knowledge Network has helped her professionally -- first to gain a part time gig teaching 'Introduction to Desktop Publishing'; and second, by educating her entire firm as to the Pantone Hexachrome process. "We were able to print (with the collaboration of many Craftsmen members) a better piece for less money. This increased profitability was enough to convince our VP/Creative Director to pay my dues from his budget.....The knowledge I've gained and the contacts I've made through the IAPHC are a big part of my success." The latest Y'NOW Requests Your Knowledge Network Obviously Works, Y'KNOW? Perhaps you can help your fellow members also. - From Roger Buck, member-at-large with Perfection Forms: "I am getting desperate to help this account in Chicago grow. I have a branch forms distributor in Chicago who wishes to open a branch office in Atlanta. They are looking for either a strong branch manager with a business forms background or an existing distributor who may wish to sell their company. Are there any members in the Atlanta area who might know of a potential candidate? This is a very professional operation with numerous branches in other parts of the US. Please e-mail your responses to me at rogerbuck@terraworld.net Thanks for your help!" - From Second District Governor Jeff Mayer of Connecticut Printing and Graphics: I need to find a web printer from the Knowledge Network who would be interested in the following job 35,000 quantity of a 64 page plus cover catalog size 8 1/2 x 10 7/8" 5/5 4C process plus satin aqueous film supplied text = 80# #2 Dull text (Productolith) cover = 80# #2 Dull Cover (Productolith or ???) high quality product catalog, client will babysit press side during the entire run. Contact Jeff at 203-748-6627 or via fax at 203-798-7169 Convention News By all accounts the IAPHC's 79th annual Convention in Rochester, New York was a big success for the delegates and members in attendance. We will provide a detailed recap of some of the key events in next week's issue of Tuesday Morning News. In addition, look for expanded coverage in The IAPHC Communicator coming soon to a mailbox near you. The following comments of a first time delegate attest to what the convention experience is all about. "WOW!!! I just wanted to drop you a line and say once again... WOW!! As a first time convention goer I was in awe. Awe may seem like a strong word, but believe me it fits to perfection. On a local level you have the few who are very active participants in the organization, then you move to a district level and meet more people who are there because they really believe in the IAPHC and then you go to International Convention and there are all these fabulous fellow Craftsmen who have such a 'gung ho' attitude and want to help everyone and anyone on their Craftsman Journey. Share Your Knowledge took on a whole new dimension for me. I met amazing people from all over and had something in common with all of them! I learned from the seminars and from just stopping and talking to anyone with a Craftsman name badge! The excitement and camaraderie that I have taken with me have instilled in me an increased desire to share that feeling with my fellow Sacramento members. I also plan to continue the friendships that I made in Rochester. Thank you so much for the opportunity to visit with you and to come away and say.... WOW!!" Rustii Stocks, Sacramento Club. We'd like to offer our personal thanks to Len Petitti, Third District Governor and long time Rochester Club member, who provided the behind the scenes 'glue' to keep the Convention together. Look For: August 10th issue of Printing News has some nice PR for the Association. International Gallery Awards are being shipped to all Club's designated Gallery contacts. Club Bulletin editors will be receiving a packet of press releases, the newest Know More Notes and other materials for inclusion in your Club Bulletins. That's All Folks! Yours in Craftsmanship, Kevin Keane IAPHC Minneapolis Minnesota |
