 From your International CraftNet Committee We're making CraftNet better Over the past few weeks the CraftNet committee has been busy working on a plan. The goal is simple -- to provide services that will make our website THE most valuable graphic arts resource on the Internet. As International Chairman Larry Nelson mentioned in his February Chairman report, the road to success is not always an easy and straightforward one. Such is the case with CraftNet -- there are literally thousands of details that must be considered to make it all come together as a useful service.We're working out the details one at a time, prioritizing items and working on each individual element of the site until we're satisfied that it's been done right. One step at a time and every day we're closer to our goal.Our immediate goal is to improve a few of the existing areas on the site and to do this we need assistance from you. We've got some openings for a few people who would like to contribute a bit of time each month, have some fun, and learn new skills while doing it. If you feel that your Internet skills aren't up to snuff, don't fret. The things we need help with don't require a lot of experience and we'll help you learn new skills that will make the job a lot easier. In no time at all you'll be cruising around the web like a veteran.If you'd like to help with CraftNet we have openings for the following positions:Proof Readers (8 members) - to proof read specific pages as they're uploaded to the site. 1/2 - 1 hour per month per member. Forum Moderators (4 members) - to give guidance and direction to online discussions - will need to have a basic overall understanding of processes used in the graphic arts industry. 1 hour per month per member. Industry Events (2 members) - to locate information about upcoming trade shows and industry seminars - a list of websites and other resources will be provided. 1/2 - 1 hour per month per member. IAPHC Website Award Reviewers (8 members) - to review websites for inclusion in the IAPHC Links section. 2 - 3 hours per month per member. Instruction and assistance will be provided for performing the functions listed above.If you can assist the Association with any of these positions please e-mail Int'l CraftNet Chair Norm Belanger at craftnet@iaphc.org and indicate which area you would like to help with.
