2000 Trouble

Well it must be true. When we tried to enter a members credit card number for reserving a room at the upcoming IAPHC Mid-Year meeting, the card expiry date ended in 00 and the computer kicked it back as being unknown. That being the case it was encouraging to read the blurb in the January 12th issue of The New Yorker magazine about Mr. Bob Bemer, one of the original IBM computer geeks. Mr. Bemer, now 77 years of age and possessing a resume which includes such seminal events in the history of computing as inventing ASCII text and the 'escape sequence' that controls laser printing, believes he has the solution to the millennium bug. Something to do with the source code .... His firm is called B.M.R software and the product will be announced as Vertex 2000. Good thing it isn't called vortex.
If you're having difficulty finding a solution or have an example of how the Craftsmen Network has recently benefited you, we'd like to hear about it. Please send an e-mail to headquarters@iaphc.org.
