International Printing Week Successes

We were fortunate enough to travel to visit with 120 super Craftsmen members
in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 15; and about 250 fine folks in Portland, Oregon on January 17th and another 60 hardy souls last evening in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Grand Rapids presented four $1,000 scholarships to students and gave the first contribution to the CraftNet Challenge II in the generous amount of $1,000. We salute and thank them for this forward thinking gesture.
We also want to note that Lorraine Gutowski, was presented with Craftsman of the Year, a truly deserving lady who has done so much for her Club and the Fifth District over the years. We also spent the night enjoying the warm hospitality of Walt Gutowski, Jr and his lovely family. Thanks Walt and Amy!
Portland was also celebrating their Gallery and our hat is off to them for a fantastic event. Nearly 60 world class pieces won awards and will now be going on to the International Gallery here in Minneapolis. Bonnie Kelsch and Stewart Nestor did a super job of putting the evening together under the steady hand of Club President Tim Trachtenberg. There is some incredible talent in the Portland printing community.
Central Minnesota's Printing Professionals were marking the fifth year since they started their Gallery on a night when the mercury was about 20 below. Last night was warmer both because the Gallery has grown so much (some 48 awards were presented and the number of pieces going on to the International Gallery has doubled) and because of the genuine fellowship of the members assembled.
We also received nice notices about the Akron Club IPW Banquet from Fifth District Governor Ray Rafalowski -- 200 people and nearly 300 entries in their Gallery. Ray said: "Man, what a class affair!" Cindy Johnson, Eighth District Governor attended a great evening with the members of the Wichita and Mid-Kansas Clubs and Len Petitti, Third District Governor, and carpal tunnel expert had a splendid time with the Buffalo Club.
If you're having difficulty finding a solution or have an example of how the Craftsmen Network has recently benefited you, we'd like to hear about it. Please send an e-mail to headquarters@iaphc.org.
