Club and IAPHC News
By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO

Y'KNOW Requests

Y'KNOW stands for Your Knowledge Network Obviously Works, (Y'KNOW?) In a wonderfully eloquent letter penned by Chairman Larry Nelson which he mailed to all Club Presidents, Larry wrote: "Consider this; we are first and foremost individual knowledge workers. The only basis for our organization, and indeed our motto, is to Share the Knowledge we have. The business of our Association is the business of providing a transfer of knowledge. What our organization does is institutionalize the sharing of personal intellectual capital. There is not a single one of us that possesses all the knowledge necessary to be the complete knowledge worker. Therefore, we need an institution that can act as a conduit to carry the information we need when we need it; ..." If you would like to see the full text of Larry's letter, ask your Club President to share a copy with you.

This week we have several requests for help from our individual members.

From Roger Buck, member-at-large in Girard, Kansas:

"One of my accounts here in the states has developed an account in Canada. We will be producing and shipping 2 truckloads of forms approximately every 4-5 months and shipping to a warehouse in Canada for dispersing. The problem is... I don't have a warehouse in Canada. Do you suppose one of our Canadian members might have warehouse space they would be willing to work a deal on? If you could put a request in Tuesday Morning News I would appreciate it. They can call me at 800-835-0376 or e-mail me at rogerbuck@terraworld.net

From Walt Mauer:

"Your association may be able to provide me with the names of printers who are capable of producing 'Coffee Table books.' I have a customer who desires to have at least one, and possibly several publications of this type produced. Anything you can tell me will be appreciated." You can reach Walt at 717-392-4181 or via e-mail at waltmauer@redrose.net

From Bill Gierhart of the Tulsa Club:

"I just talked to JD Prather of our Club looking for 3" rolls of a color adding machine paper. He told me to check with you. Would appreciate it if you know of a source." You can reach Bill via e-mail at WGierh1372@aol.com

From Jamie Robinson of the Fresno Club:

We are thinking of doing our own direct mailing. Do you have any info, or know of anyone who can help us with this? We need to know what software and hardware we would need to do the list management, where the lists come from, how do we comply with postal regs etc, etc, etc." You can reach Jamie at jamier@certifiedad.com We suggested that Jamie ask Jim Siemons of the East Bay Club for his expert assistance.

From Sue Jordan of the Albuquerque Club:

"I am looking for a source that makes custom door mats that one could put a company name/logo on. 2 color, small quantity. Any suggestions of who to call? These would be used in doorways and conference booths." You can reach Sue via e-mail at theprintedimage@juno.com

And a final most global request:
"Dear Sirs, my name is Dirk Goetz. I am a German student at the Stuttgart University for printing technology in the major of printing management. I want to spend a business oriented traineeship in a large modern printing house in the U.S. (in the management department). The traineeship is a mandatory part of my studies and the prospective period will be from March to September '99. It would be great if you could give me some information of companies who might be interested in my traineeship. If you know of any interested company please give me the fax number or e-mail address and I'll contact them and send my complete application. Thank you in advance. I'm looking forward to hearing from you."

You can contact Dirk via e-mail at dg06@fhd-stuttgart.de
