By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO CASH-IN TO WIN! Last week, we noted that Pete Peterson of the Milwaukee- Racine Club had sold $640 worth of CASH-IN TO WIN tickets. Gary Smith, president of the North Shore Club just wants to point out that he gave the North Shore Club's supply of tickets to Pete at the Sixth District Conference so we thank Gary by association! Tony Sarubbi has sold $340 worth of tickets. Chris Kerlick of St. Louis sold one to the luckiest woman we know, his wife Jeannine. (Mrs. Kerlick may be lucky to be married to a fine fellow like Chris, but she is also a gifted gambler!) And Richard Jones, president of the Los Angeles Club sent a note that they have sold $200 worth of CASH-IN TO WIN tickets in LA. Craftsmen Foundation The Diablo Club becomes the latest Club to join the roster of contributors, we thank them for their generosity. And Cindy Johnson continues her amazing record of garnering support for the Foundation. Last week she sent a note asking us to invoice Dr. Ervin Dennis of her home Club of Waterloo-Cedar Falls. We thank Cindy and Ervin for their support. Rochester Mailing A reminder to all Club and District Officers and past IAPHC Officers to look for the mailing for the Rochester Convention which has been provided through the generosity of past IAPHC president Don Davidson of Ideal Printing and the Des Moines Club. New IAPHC Organization and Leadership Chair appointed We congratulate Cynthia Petermann, 2 time president of the Omaha Club on her appointment as IAPHC O & L Chair. Those of you who attended the Montreal Convention in 1996 may recall Cynthia's inspired 'StarTrek' speech on Club Planning and Management. G.A.L.A. Auction items Many of you may have noted on the tentative agendas for the Rochester Convention that a new feature this year will be an Auction, administered by that talented auctioneer Jay Mandarino of the Toronto Club. The auction will be part of the Sunday evening International Gallery Awards festivities. Proceeds from the Auction will be shared with the Graphic Arts Literacy Alliance (G.A.L.A.) which has been shepherded in recent years by Richard Burnham of the Baltimore Club. Auction items will of course include some of the remarkable items submitted as entries in this year's International Gallery. In addition we are asking that Clubs and individual members consider donating items. Clubs might want to give items or products which evoke their town's or region's special flavor. For example, the Columbus Club might want to donate some White Castle hamburgers (the frozen variety!); the Calgary Club might want to donate a belt buckle from the Calgary Stampede. Individuals can donate virtually anything the mind can envision. G.A.L.A. is a most worthy cause, and the more items we have to auction off, the more fun and profitable an evening it will be. Auction donations can be sent to IAPHC Headquarters for assembly prior to shipment to Rochester. Craftsmen Merchandise We fielded a call from Larry DeVera of the North Shore Club yesterday looking for a quantity of one hundred of an item of Craftsmen Merchandise. We touted the utilitarian benefits of the Business Card Caddy, not to mention its very reasonable price of $5.50 and sent Larry a copy on approval. In recent weeks we have sold Craftsmen golf ditty bags and golf ballholders to Brian Ardron of Toronto and Chris Kerlick of St. Louis and Tony Sarubbi of Milwaukee-Racine. Steve Crouse of the Toledo Club called today to report that he was sending in three International Gallery entries for his company Erd Specialty Graphics, a firm whose quality of work deeply impressed Stewart Graham of the Lima Area Club, and ordered a quantity of Craftsmen pins and a copy of the merchandise list. Let us know if you'd like to show your Craftsmen Colors with an item or two of Craftsmen Merchandise. New Governor's Meeting Just a reminder that the newly elected IAPHC District Governors will have an orientation meeting relative to their duties and responsibilities on the Friday prior to the opening of the Rochester Convention. (Friday August 7, 1998 at 3:00 PM). This meeting is mandatory for the new District Governors and attendance by all District Governors is highly encouraged. Final, Final Gallery deadline Okay you Godzillian Gallery Go Getters, here's the truth. We will accept last minute International Gallery entries up to and including the first day of judging which is Monday, June 15th, 1998. It now appears that we have a chance for the largest International Gallery entry count ever. And it's the last minute entries that will push us over the top. Is there a hot new project that just came off your press? An item you had intended to enter but just forgot? EVERY SINGLE ENTRY can make a difference in the continued growth of the IAPHC's premier event. Can you help? Thank you! That's All Folks! Because of International Gallery activity our TMN publishing schedule may be a wee bit out of whack the next two weeks. But hopefully that just means we will have more good news to share! |
