By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO Rumination As the Club Officer rosters for 1998-1999 and business cards submitted with Gallery entries keep rolling in, we note that more and more of our members have e-mail addresses. Many of you will be receiving this, the 70th issue of Tuesday Morning News (TMN), for only the second time as we have just added your e-mail address to our burgeoning e-directory. And again we plead: there is no more rapid way for our members who are engaged in the communication arts to communicate with each other and with us than via e-mail. Please make a regular effort to obtain e-mail addresses from your fellow members. Thanks. Some Recent Reader Comments (and RESULTS!) on TMN "Thanks for TMN. Very informative. Great information, and to the point. This is what Craftsmanship is all about." Richard Burnham, Baltimore Club in a fax of 2 June, 1998 "Great reading the past couple of months Kevin; keep up the great work." Member-at-large Tom Gretzinger in an e-mail of 2 June, 1998. "If Ken Starr had such an in-depth expertise in the subject matter he is studying, as you do on the industry in which we toil, he could have wrapped up the now $10,000,000 plus investigation and submitted his report quite some time ago. Keep up the good work." Woody Ryder, in an e-mail of 3 June, 1998. "Tuesday Morning News is GREAT! I make reference to it numerous times during the week." Member-at-large Don Sebold, in an e-mail of 4 June, 1998 "Thanks for the Newsletter. I enjoyed reading it. Very timely and with current news." Ned Lewis, Indianapolis Club in an e-mail of 5 June, 1998. "Thanks so much for your help. I am amazed at the quick response, and the results of your Tuesday Morning News. Keep up the great work." Walt Mauer in an e-mail of 5 June, 1998. Mr. Mauer was listed in the Y'KNOW requests in the June 2, 1998 TMN, he was looking for a 'coffee table book' printer. He tells us he got 9 replies. He has now e-mailed us the specifications for the job and we would be happy to e-mail them to anyone who wishes to contact him further in regards to bidding on the job. "In your last TMN you had the name (and e-mail address) of a young gentleman in Germany who would like to come to America on an exchange (to learn about the graphic arts in North America.) I'm happy to report that I have been communicating with him and it looks promising that he will come to our plant for 6 months starting in March of 1999. Thanks for the lead." Ike Braun of Friesens and the Winnipeg Club in an e-mail of 11 June, 1998. Jerry Bigalk, former IAPHC Treasurer and incoming president of the Antelope Valley Club has also been in e-mail correspondence with the German student, Dirk Goetz. Kudo's for CraftNet "I have shown the IAPHC website to a customer of mine in Vancouver. He publishes a small newspaper for the press users in the north west US and Canada. It is distributed to all web houses in the area. It's called 'The Pressmen.' He likes the stuff on our website and wishes to use it in his publication -- giving credit to the IAPHC and its writer. Can he use it with permission?" Kari Lumme, president-elect of the Vancouver Club. Of the material on CraftNet that we have authored, the answer is a categorical yes! |
