By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO Thank You is Always Pleasant "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help and generous support that you have afforded us in the past year as I have worked to get this chapter started here in Springfield. Without you and Cindy Johnson and Chris Kerlick and all the wonderful people I have met in the 8th District, this Club would not be in existence." Russ Renshaw, charter president, Springfield Missouri Club via e-mail on 4-29-98. "Thank you for all International does. You guys are the greatest!!!!" John Mullis, Carolina Club president via e-mail on 4-24-98. "Thank you for all of your help both with the club and professionally." Diana Feeney, Capital District Club president, via e-mail on 4-29-98. Newest International Gallery Sponsor Baldwin Technologies is the latest graphic arts supplier to join the list of vendor firms who are assisting in sponsoring the 1998 International Gallery of Superb Printing. We thank Ed Kelly for securing this support, and especially thank the fine folks at Baldwin for their generosity. Gallery Update: It's Round Up Time! With ten days remaining before the nominal entry cutoff date of May 15, it is time for all of you good readers to inquire: Have I, has my firm, has my Club sent in our International Gallery entries as yet? There are literally thousands of entries which will be flooding in before the one true, double secret, final final deadline of June 13, but we need you to take action now! As of May 5 we have received only 20% of the entries we had processed last year. That means we are about to get hit with a beautiful tidal wave of entries. And believe it, those entries are coming: from Akron and Omaha, from Toronto and Jacksonville, from Los Angeles and Wichita, from Vancouver and Baltimore, from Montreal to Albuquerque. The sooner they get here the more time to prepare them for judging. Won't you see what you can do to pry loose those entries? Recent International Gallery Entrants 84 from the Syracuse Club 10 from John Roberts Printing, Minneapolis, MN 25 from Jacob North Printing, Lincoln, Nebraska 2 from Advanced Digital Graphics, San Rafael, CA 1 from Integra Printing, Grand Rapids, Michigan 1 from Letterhead Press, Milwaukee, WI 3 from Penmar Industries, S. Norwalk, Connecticut 2 from C L Graphics, Crystal Lake, IL 50 from Landoll's, Ashland, OH 9 from Advertiser Printers, Dayton, Kentucky 6 from H & K Litho, Clifton, New Jersey 22 from Carlson Craft, Mankato, MN 5 from the Madison Area Club 3 from Ben Franklin Press, Napa, California 2 from Image Systems, Menomonie Falls, WI * 49 from the Capital District Club 3 from Cincinnati Business Printers, Fairfield, OH * 15 from Thompson Printing Company, Clifton, New Jersey * * Signifies first time entrant. This is noteworthy because as Walt Gutowski, Jr. of the Grand Rapids Club said last year, "I guarantee that if you enter once and win, you'll enter more pieces the next year." We also draw your attention to the fact that two weeks ago in Tuesday Morning News we reported that Image Systems had just been acquired by Consolidated Graphics of Houston. If we can get a list of the other 35 companies owned by Consolidated Graphics maybe they will enter too! |
