"Just read a copy of your Tuesday Morning News: great stuff. The information you make available is both interesting and timely." John Rutledge, (in an e-mail of 4 April) of Kohl & Madden Inks who lives in Rockland County, New York but was referred to us on a virtual bounce from Rick Werner who sells for Superior Ink on the West Coast of the US! Y'KNOW Requests Your Knowledge Network Obviously Works (Y'KNOW?) "Do any of our members have generic job descriptions for small print shop owners or shop managers? You could e-mail me at woodieo@aol.com or fax me at 516-249-5618, thanks!" We have a blind request for a member in the State of Michigan looking for leads for job opportunities involving sales. The individual is well versed in all aspects of our industry. Would be an excellent candidate to sell a wide variety of product or service offerings involving any phase of the print process from prepress to press to post press. Because of circumstances, all responses are requested to be routed through kkeane1069@aol.com We also have a blind request from a member seeking to confirm that a company named The Envelope Printery in Taylor, Michigan was recently acquired. If you have any information you can share please direct it to kkeane1069@aol.com Thank you! Gary Preston of the Columbus Club posted a Y'KNOW inquiry in TMN recently and received responses from members of five different Clubs! Wow! And he's back with another query: "We had an 'upset' former employee drive a van through the doors into the shop, in an odd coincidence that same day, an anonymous person reported to OSHA that they suffered nosebleeds and other irritation from chemicals in our workplace. We have had our corporate safety people in from Chicago and they have come up with some things they feel need corrective safety measures -- our Heidelberg Windmill, two 3-hole drills (we have a Baum and a Challenge model), a Bostitch single head foot pedal powered stapler, and also a Kirk Rudy tabbing machine for mailing. If anyone could offer some help in terms of what we can do to make these items safer it would be appreciated." You can e-mail Gary at Gary.Preston@rossnutrition.com Glen Ripper of the Seattle Club is looking for a source that could provide thermography over a 17 x 36" image area on a 65# parchment cover stock which is 26 x 40" in size. Glen's e-mail is gripper@kpcorp.com John Peck of the Redwood Empire Club is attempting to assist a client in tracking down the negatives for a book published by Princeton Academic Press of Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The entity apparently went out of business under that name in 1995. The book is titled "Here a Plant, There a Plant" by Quackenbush. John's phone is 707-584-9547. Dennis Gongwer, president of the Columbus Club is looking for suggestions and input as to how to improve the Print Expo sponsored by the Club each year. "One big let down this year was the seminars. It is always hard to determine what is hot and what is not. What get's people out to attend? Would it be possible to pose the question to our members? What subject matter would hit their hot button or what seminars they have presented that were well attended? Any seminar suggestions would be much appreciated!" Club News The Detroit Club will be marking their 10th Annual Gallery of Superb Printing on 13 April. International Chairman Jeanann Georgianna and Fifth District Governor Bill Orr will be among the guests. We'd also like to thank Detroit Club president Dave Holman for doing a fabulous job in searching out and passing along Club members e-mail addresses. - From Los Angeles Club president Richard Jones: "On April 21 the Club will be visiting the Heidelberg demonstration center, we are expecting over 150 members, guests and students. Heidelberg will be printing a live 12th District project for us. Our golf outing will take place a couple of days later on the 26th and we are almost sold out. The District booth at the upcoming Gutenberg Festival is also looking very good. My term as president is narrowing down to an end and I've still got so much to get done. In a way, I'll miss the position. It has been very rewarding." TIME is AWASTING! Look at the calendar gentle reader. Recruit a new member and make sure the individual's name is recorded with HQ so as to make sure you qualify for the membership incentive contest. Send in that International Gallery entry (or three). Send in that CASH IN TO WIN ticket (or two). Register thyself (or more) for the St. Louis Convention. Don't delay. DO IT NOW! Please? Thank you! Our thanks to the latest CASH IN TO WIN! participants -- Celeste Cron, Gregg Moser, Chris Kerlick, Pam Goin, Artis Bigalk, Meta Krause. That's All Folks! Yours in Craftsmanship, Kevin Keane IAPHC Minneapolis Minnesota |
