Rendezvous in Reno

The Reno Convention Committee is planning a truly incredible experience for all attendees at the Edge of the Millennium, who will frolic at the Peppermill Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada, August 10-15, 2000. The Reno Committee reports:

"We have received our first on-line registration from Jim Cottrell of the North Shore Club. You too can be a member of this elite following by logging on to our Convention 2000 registration site at www.comstockcards.com/c2000/index/html

And remember, June 15 cuts off our early bird registration fee.

Book to win ... make your flight reservations to Reno by using our exclusive code G4850 when booking with Southwest Airlines. Just like any reward program, there are benefits to flying Southwest Air and using G4850. Call 800-433-5368. Show us your airline stub upon arriving at the Convention registration desk and your name will be put in a drawing for two round trip tickets on Southwest Airlines for future travel.

Your Governor has the perfect promotional tool to fire up the masses to attend Convention 2000. The Convention 2000 promo video is available from your Governor to show at any Club meeting.

Attention Governors! Please contact Bill Price to make arrangements for your District's suite for Convention 2000. Bill will coordinate with the Peppermill to make sure that your needs are met. Bill's work phone is 775-786-2041 or email him at bprice@powernet.net

Get those reservations and registrations in for Convention 2000 in Reno!"

Y'KNOW Requests

(Your Knowledge Network Obviously Works, Y'KNOW?)

And the beat goes on. John Kohnke from San Francisco needs to find someone who does calendar tipping. Bob Bayless in Seattle is the man! Jeff Jarvis in Oakland need to find four sided deckle edged paper -- he gets sources from David Christie in Seattle, Frieda Sarubbi in Milwaukee, and Chip Hancock in Oklahoma City. Gary Preston in Columbus needs special post it notes -- Amy McCarthy in Syracuse sends him an estimate the same day. Y'KNOW - it's not merely local. It's specific and accurate and it's FAST!

- From North Jersey member Frank Von Cappeln: "I am looking for a replacement blade for my Southworth round cornering machine. Do you know where I can buy one? Thank you." Frank can be reached via e-mail at frank@craftsmenprinters.com

- From Grand Rapids, Michigan member Walt Gutowski, Jr.: "I am interested in buying a 4 color 14 x 20 press that perfects. My average run length is 5,000 to 10,000. Those who sell them say they are very practical and functional. Those who sell only the 4 color without the perfector option say: 1) Too much set up time, just as fast to run one side at a time for those quantities. 2) You can't perfect coated stock because of markings. 3) When perfecting, you can't print a quality half-tone on one side of the sheet. I have also looked at the Ryobi 3304. Some suggest buying it with a console and in fact I understand this is the last year they make it without the console. I have the DPX 2000 platesetter by Purup. Appreciate whatever knowledge and support you may bring my way." You can reach Walt via e-mail at walt@swiftprinting.com

- From Member Len Petitti: "I am looking for a printing operation that has installed SAP, to run their business. They can contact me at leonard.petitti@kodak.com or at 716-588-5795. Thanks!"

- From Member Roger Buck: "I need a source for bottle and jar labels. These are 4 CP and numerous shapes and sizes. Does anyone have a suggestion for a high quality printer of this product? My client is in the Midwest, but distance may not be a factor. Thank you." You can reach Roger via e-mail at rogerbuck@terraworld.net

- From Member Sharon Porter: "We have an old AccuSet 1000 Plus and have a problem getting chemicals and film. Any suggestions besides getting a new machine? Also, our plant needs better job flow and a better method of tracking jobs in house." You can contact Sharon via e-mail at sharonp@jhc.com

- From North Jersey member Dan Marantz: "I need to find a source for a gold wrapped box size 5" x 7" x 2", any leads? Thanks!" You can reach Dan at dmarantz@aol.com

>From Wichita member Lucy Burtnett: "Was curious if anyone out there will be attending Drupa in Dusseldorf this May. Two of us from the Wichita Club are going. Just booked the flights. Might be fun to hook up with anyone else from the IAPHC that will be in Dusseldrof May 18-22. Thanks!" You can reach Lucy at jblburt@aol.com
