Club and IAPHC News
By Kevin Keane, IAPHC CEO

Your Knowledge Network Obviously Works (Y'KNOW?)

1) From Greater Milwaukee Graphic Arts Association member Dean Wolter:

Mid-western prepress graphics firm with 5 years of Computer to plate experience looking to stretch its reach through-out the lower 48 states. We are looking for a small to medium size sheet fed or web printer wanting to get into computer to plate but not wanting to invest in prepress front end equipment. Desired scenario would include placing a computer to plate device on pressroom floor to be supported by us via a T-1 or VPN communications network. All interested companies please e-mail deanwolter@hotmail.com

Dean is also in search of a sales rep. Please reply via e-mail to the above e-mail address.

2) From an IAPHC member in Quebec, a blind request for any info on Suparma art paper. If know anything about this paper, please contact kkeane1069@aol.com and thank you!

3) From North Shore Club member Gary Smith:

Do you know where I can find a listing of average wages by job position in the printing industry? You can reach gary at Gary@Smith-Printing.com

4) From Capital District Club member Joe Benoit:

I am looking for trade binderies in the West (San Diego area), Mid-West (Minneapolis area), and North East (Albany area) that can perfect bind 3" + books for the three plants mentioned. They don't have to be in the immediate area, but within a reasonable trucking distance. Any responses can be forwarded to me at 518-435-2112 or via e-mail to joseph.r.benoit@gs.moore.com

5) A repeat request from Mid-Hudson member Dave Albrecht:

I need to know from printers worldwide (and all replies are confidential)

- what is their typical make-ready on press. (How much time does it take from hanging the plates to being ready to run the actual job.)

- what are the typical press runs in your shop (number of impressions.)

This is for market research for GretagMacbeth. Thank you! Please reply to Dave at Albrecht@greatagmacbeth.com

Reno Reminders!

The good folks at Team Eleven need your help in making the upcoming Reno Convention at the Peppermill Casino a fabulous event for ALL IAPHC members. Convention dates are August 12-15, 2000.

If you register after July 7th you may not receive your golf shirt emblazoned with your District colours (they need to order the little devils.)

The hotel registration cutoff has been extended to July 7th so get amove-on little doggies! Rooms may not be available at the great convention rate (or at all) if you delay any longer.

Convention Registration cutoff is July 21st.

Golf registration cutoff is July 15th.

That is all. See you there. At the Edge of the Millennium for the Best Little Convention ever!

Gallery BOB .... ??? You tease.

That's All Folks!

Yours in Craftsmanship,

Kevin Keane IAPHC Minneapolis Minnesota
