The eyelet size is called 3/8" medium and they are usually bagged in units of 1,000. If you can help me, it would be awesome." You can reach Randy via e-mail at MarbeeInk@aol.com From Jason Martin of the Detroit Club: "I am looking for a printer that can print 2 color and up to 4 color process bar napkins. (Typically a photograph with some words on one side only.) I can be reached at jmartin@edcen.ehhs.cmich.edu Thanks!" Jason, we know that Shawn Claggett of American Cabin Supply and a Greater Lexington Club member, prints gorgeous napkins by virtue his entries in the International Gallery...... From John Mullis of the Carolina Club and 7th District Governor: "I must find a source for Die Cutting/Perfing 9 million sheets, 22 3/4" x 38". The stock is .003. The best way to do this job would be to print/die cut in line. Evidently the customer does not have that capability. Can anyone in our network be of assistance in this matter? We are located in the Piedmont of the Carolinas." You can reach John at hearnfinco@earthlink.net From member-at-large Barry Gagnon with the City of Burlington, Ontario: "I am looking to purchase a 14" x 16" laminator but can't seem to find any, nor the typical cost. You can reach Barry via e-mail at gagnonb@city.burlington.on.ca From Danny Humphries of the Richmond Club: "I am still working on rebuilding an older Multigraphics press. Years ago, I had a device that operated like a small electric welder and it worked great! I am wondering what other shops are using and looking for suggestions." You can reach Mark at printmonger@yahoo.com From Dan Marantz of Ace Printing and the New Jersey Club: "I am looking for sleeves to go around a plastic 1 gallon jug. I think they are called shrink sleeves. The quantity my client needs is 500-5,000 each of several styles. Printed 2-3 colors. I think it probably needs to be flexo." You can reach Dan via e-mail at dmarantz@aol.com From RIT student John Potts: "I'm currently conducting research on color control bars and quality control devices. Any information I could obtain would be appreciated." You can reach John at jfp1291@rit.edu From RIT student Kristen Johnson: "I am working on a paper on non-traditional substrates and am having trouble finding sources for the project. Are there any books on the subject, or companies that print on something other than paper that I could contact?" You can reach Kristen via e-mail at kmj3586@rit.edu From member-at-large Ike Braun of Friesen's in Winnipeg: "Many of our school annuals (yearbooks) have what we call a metal inlay on the cover. Sometimes it is called Metal Applique. This is the foil that is applied as part of the embossing, making it three- dimensional. Usually it is a crest or something to highlight the cover. The problem is, our supplier (API Foils) is no longer making the material. If someone out there knows of a supplier, it would be very helpful." You can reach Ike at ikeb@friesens.com From a member in Nevada: "We have a dispute with the State taxing authority over sales tax on film. Our position has always been that the client owns the film negatives. We use the negatives for the production of a job that is being sold to the client therefore to charge tax on the film and then again on the entire job is double taxation. There are several variations of the dispute. What if the film is produced by a color house and then brought it to our shop to create plates? What if we make both the film negatives and the plates in-house? If any members, in any state, province or other principality can help us defend against this unreasonable taxation we would be forever grateful. If you will direct your replies to Kevin, he will forward them to us. Thank you!"
