Chairman’s Message,
April 2005
Getting Gallery.
Now that Easter and spring break are
behind us, it’s time to start focusing on The 2005
International Gallery.
Gallery is good for everyone in so many
ways, it’s hard to list all the advantages. But I would
like to relay to you some of the benefits of Gallery
participation.
First and foremost, my Chapter, the Calgary Chapter, has
been able to raise its profile in the Graphic Arts
community just by inviting print and design companies to
enter Gallery. As a local Gallery committee member, I
have had the opportunity to visit and meet with many
different company owners, and over the years, develop a
personal relationship with many I would not have had the
chance to meet otherwise. As many of you know,
successful sales are usually based on just such
relationships. What a great way to get in the door!
Being
on the design and production side of the industry,
Gallery has allowed me the opportunity to give back to
my customers and suppliers something that has helped
generate gratitude and loyalty. That something is a
duplicate Gallery award. After giving a customer an
award, I invariably get the opportunity to do more work
for that customer. When I get the chance to give an
award to one of my suppliers, I never seem to have any
problems getting my work produced on time and on budget.
So, how do you Get
Gallery?
It’s easy. Just get some
Call for Entries in your hands and hand one out on every
call you make. You now have a fool-proof icebreaker.
When your customer or potential customer has some
entries to submit, get in there and pick them up, help
them with the entry form, the manifest, whatever they
need. If they win an award, encourage them to get a
duplicate made and make sure the right people get it.
That’s how you develop a relationship, that’s how you
succeed. If you don’t make sales calls, then submit some
of your own work. I can pretty well guarantee it will be
worth the cost of entry.
It’s time for all of us
to start Getting Gallery!
