Orr Installed as IAPHC Chairman
for 2003-2004

William (Bill) Edward Orr was installed August 12, 2003, as International Chairman of the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen, Inc. (IAPHC) for the 2003-04 year, at the
84th IAPHC Annual Convention, held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel and Conference Center in Los Angeles, California.

The IAPHC is comprised of 4,000 graphic arts and print professionals located in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia, England, Germany, France and New Zealand. 

Orr began his career in the Graphic Arts at a local print shop in his hometown of Paducah, KY during his senior year in high school. At Murray State University in Murray, KY, he majored in Industrial Technology, specializing in Graphic Arts, and also earned his teaching certificate. Orr taught all phases of printing and graphic arts at the local Technical and Vocational School in Bowling Green, KY and also in Freeport, Grand Bahamas. After the Bahamas, Orr served twelve years as the color coordinator for RBW Graphics a large web printing facility in Toronto, Ontario, now owned by TransContinental. Orr currently resides in Cincinnati, OH and for the last eleven years has been supervising all color work at Stevenson, The Color Company.

Fully understanding the value of professional organizations, and a long time member and board member of TAGA (Technical Association of Graphic Arts), Orr joined the Cincinnati Club of Printing House Craftsmen in 1991. During his tenure as the Cincinnati Gallery chair, he increased the local entries from 50 to over 300. As Golf Outing Chair in 1994 he doubled the amount of revenue from the previous year. He went on to serve as 1st Vice President and President. 

At the district and international levels, Orr has served both as Deputy Governor and International Governor of the Fifth District. Spending numerous years on the Ways and Means Committee, he has made positive contributions to the budget approval process. Orr has served as a judge for the International Gallery of Superb Printing for three years. He served as International Secretary/Treasurer and International Vice Chairman prior to his installation as International Chairman. His term will culminate with the IAPHC’s 85th Annual Convention on the Celebrity Infinity cruise from Vancouver to Alaska (www.cruiseshipcenters.com/iaphc/) August 22-29, 2004.

Orr's diligence and dedication has earned him many accolades and awards including, the Premier Craftsman Award in 1998, the International Governor of the Year Award in 2001 and the Eric Sturton 5th District Society Craftsman of the Year Award in 2003. Chairman Orr is currently focused on the progress of the IAPHC marketing plan. He is committed to improving communications and teamwork among the International Board of Governors through regular e-mail communication and phone calls to the CEO, Executives, Governors and Committee Chairs.
