FORMER GUTENBERG FESTIVAL CO-CREATOR CHRIS JACOBSON
TO LAUNCH PRINTFEST 2006 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

TUSTIN, Calif., (Aug. 1, 2005) — Chris Jacobson, whose family previously created and operated the legendary Gutenberg Festival for 27 years, is once again taking an active role in furthering the growth and continued success of the printing industry. Through his show management and consulting company, Cal Events, he will launch a new digital printing show called PrintFest 2006 in Southern California at the Long Beach Convention Center on May 12-13, 2006. The show will empower owners to build their businesses and increase their profitability through the adoption of digital printing technologies and workflows.

Based on market research and customer input, PrintFest 2006 will focus on specific key areas of growth and profitability in the printing industry including: package printing, label printing, mailing and fulfillment, and wide format printing. Attendees will learn how to add these new profit centers to their current offerings and more. Unlike any other show of its kind, PrintFest will bring together buyers and sellers to address the issues that continue to change the printing industry landscape.

“Most printing companies understand that they will need to eventually adopt new digital technologies in order to survive and grow, but many are not quite sure how to do it,” said Jacobson. “PrintFest’s purpose is to help these companies gain a clear understanding of what their businesses are all about in order to figure out a gradual, evolutionary strategy that will take them to the next profitable level. It will give them the training and tools they need to bridge the gap between today and the future.”

According to Jacobson, PrintFest will deliver on this promise through peer-to-peer training in the form of user panel discussions with early adopters reciting real world success stories — business-building information attendees can take back to their shops and implement immediately.

Jacobson continued: “You have to be flexible and adapt with the changing times, and at the same time, you have to stay profitable with what equipment and systems you already have in place as you go through the transition. PrintFest will challenge companies to define what their company’s current state is in order to chart a future growth path to success. It will have them look at the tools, training, equipment, supplies, systems and services they will need in order to get to their profitable destination.”
